The Thari Programme currently has a research study underway in partnership with the University of Free State. The study is an evaluation of the Thari pilot programme to build a scientifically proven model. It aims to explore and describe whether and how the Thari Programme in Botshabelo has strengthened the school community to empower and protect women and children against violence and abuse. It will also explore how the Thari Programme can be developed into a well-functioning impact model that can be replicated in other school communities.

The study will be conducted with Professor Roelf Reyneke, Programme Director at the Department of Social Work. Thari is grateful to the Free State Department of Basic Education and the school community, including the principals, School Governing Bodies and parents, for giving the study the necessary approval.
