Adopt-a-School conducted a full renovation of a Childhood Development Centre at Olifantsvlei Primary, a school it has long supported, on Mandela Day.

In line with the changing strategy of Nelson Mandela Foundation (NMF) for organisations to invest in projects that create long-term sustainability, Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation and its partner entity Adopt-A-School, adapted its strategy for Mandela Day.

The NMF has identified Early Childhood Development and poverty alleviation as key development areas.

In addition to requesting pledges from sponsors to develop the Early Childhood Development centre, Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation organised a range of volunteer activities at the school, including painting, the development of a vegetable garden, the planting of trees, minor renovations, literacy projects and social welfare projects.

This provided staff of supporting companies the opportunity to actively participate and volunteer in the betterment of a school environment.

Among the personalities on hand to lend a hand, were First Lady, Dr Tshepo Motsepe, and the finalists of Miss South Africa.
