Adopt-a-School in partnership with Chair Club, an office chair manufacturing company, recently visited Diepsloot Combined School to donate 100 chairs for foundation-phase classes.

ChairClub managing director, Travers Hathrill, said one of the biggest demands in South Africa’s economy is to ensure South Africa’s youth are looked after and given every opportunity to grow and blossom.

“Ensuring learners have decent, comfortable chairs to learn is the most important thing the company can provide at the moment,” he said. “Understanding the many challenges faced within the education sector in South Africa, particularly around cramped and under-resourced classrooms, ChairClub is very excited about this initiative and the investment in education,” Hathrill said.

Noel Maringa, the school principal, was grateful for the donation. “Some of our learners had to bring chairs from home,” he explained. He said the school was aware many companies are in difficulty due to the pandemic, “yet they were able to donate to us in this difficult time“.

Adopt-a-School and ChairClub continue to call for support for the campaign through the purchase of chairs. To participate click here.
