The 2018 Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust (CRET) June Vacation Programme took place from 27 – 29 June 2018. In total, 61 CRET and Tshivhase Trust students were hosted over three days. Students undertook their community service at Abangani Enkosini orphanage in Alexandra where they spent the afternoon cooking and interacting with children.

Also part of the vacation programme was a talk on safety from the Memeza Community Safety NGO and students received personal safety alarms. This was followed by a laughter session from Laughter Coaching which aimed to equip students with practical tools to handle stress. Students then divided into groups to develop a new board game and app and their innovative concepts were presented at the end of the day. One-on-one sessions were held with all students to ascertain their current situations and overall well-being.

The programme was concluded with a team building session at Gold Reef City, where the students were exposed to exercises that encouraged the importance of communication skills, time management, team work, and overcoming fear.
