CRET hosted its 5th Annual Awards evening on 26 January 2018 to honour recent graduates and to recognise outstanding achievements by students on the bursary programme. Top students were awarded accordingly to their faculties of study, the most improved learner and top academic achiever. In addition, three students were acknowledged for their Golden Key selection, 15 were recognised as new graduates, and a student received the Nelson Mandela Award for overall academic, leadership and community service recognition.

Almost a third of the 64 students on the CRET programme in 2017 produced a combined 51 distinctions. In his keynote address, Chairman of the Foundation and President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr Cyril Ramaphosa, expressed his pride in the students’ achievements and encouraged them to continue pursuing academic excellence.
