Mokgadi Mashapu is from Diepkloof in Soweto. She works as a baker with Hadasha Enterprises. The company has been supported by the Foundation’s partner entity, Black Umbrellas, which develops small Black-owned businesses. This helps create employment in South Africa.
“I have gained a lot of skills whilst working at Hadasha Enterprises,” Mokgadi says, “not just as a professional baker but also in terms of customer service and working with people.”
Mokgadi bakes birthday cakes, biscuits, jam squares, scones.
“I started as an Assistant Baker in September 2019 and was later promoted to Baker in July 2020. I see myself opening my own business one day and empowering other women. This is something I have admired from my employer, Boitumelo Masekela,” she says.
